Herbal Detox- Herb Pharm Review

The Product

Since our beginnings in 1979, people have relied on our products for a simple reason—they work. Delivering on that promise time and time again means getting every detail right. It also means setting the standards for earth-friendly practices for herbal supplements. We celebrate this responsibility from the seed to the shelf.

I'm going to be reviewing this product today but I've tried multiple products made by Herb Pharm. I love their stuff! Most of the information I'm going to be providing you is directly from their website. Any other links will be posted at the bottom! I like to give background on the company and their processes. Sorry it's usually lengthy if you just want the review skip to the bottom!

Why We Do It
Our Vision:
To actively participate in the health, happiness and harmony of the Earth and all its people.

Our Mission:

We are committed to providing the highest quality herbal extracts products possible, educating people on the safe and effective use of medicinal herbs, and inspiring a love for plants and a respect for Nature.

Purity & Safety:

Herb Screening, Testing & Verification
There are literally hundreds of steps required to make an Herb Pharm product. Whether plants come from our own organic farms or from a growing partner half a world away, we thoughtfully scrutinize:

• Identity – Distinguishing one species from another is a complex skill that takes years to develop. Our herbal experts touch, taste and smell all of our herbs and compare their findings to our extensive digital catalog, compiled and updated over three decades.

• Confirmation – Our experts’ findings comes through our Botanical Sciences Laboratory. Our scientists generate a phytochemical “fingerprint” of each herb sample to reveal the herb’s array of natural compounds. The array must match our exacting specifications before that herb can fulfill its destiny as an Herb Pharm extract.

• Purity – We put our herbs through a multitude of careful tests. We screen for synthetic fungicides, herbicides, pesticides and heavy metals. Our Soleris® testing system provides fast and accurate detection of microbiological organisms like bacteria, yeast and molds. Only the purest herbs enter our doors and make their way to your medicine cabinet.

• Potency –Natural and environmental factors affect an herb’s potency, so even the purest herbs need to measure up. Our Botanical Sciences Laboratory verifies herb potency both before and after manufacturing through state-of-the-art High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) analysis to ensure that every batch is consistent and meets or exceeds its labeled shelf life.

• Traceability – Every raw material is assigned a unique identifier, which is electronically recorded and forever associated with all of the products that material goes into. This ensures complete traceability of all of our products. We can pinpoint the exact seed lot and field from which the herb originated.

FDA

The Food and Drug Administration inspects our facility. In its role as overseer of dietary supplement makers, FDA issues a code of regulations called Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). GMPs describe methods, facility and equipment standards, testing and control and record keeping protocol requirements.

The Product Itself

One of my favorite things about Herb Pharm is that for me at least, I can find them in one of my local grocery stores in the holistic health section. *score* All of their ingredients are certified organically grown or sustainably wild crafted. No chemicals, pesticides, or herbacides to worry about. Also, their stuff is gluten free! This particular detox contains 9 ingredients. I'm gonna break down this product and then get to my review, promise.

  • Red Clover- is one of the "staple" detoxifying herbs. It's a known blood purifier. It's best known in the herbal community as being an anti-cancer herb.

  • Licorice Root- is a broad spectrum detoxifying agent. This can gently rid the body of over 1,000 toxins.

  • Buckhorn Bark- is a great herb for your intestines. This is typically used for constipation but in this mix gently stimulates bowel movements to move toxins from the body.

  • Burdock Seed- multi-system detoxifier and supports function of the kidneys, liver, digestion, lymphatic, and endocrine systems.

  • Oregon Grape Root- is a blood cleanser that stimulates the liver, gallbladder, and helps detoxify the spleen.

  • Stillingia Root- stimulates the lymphatic system which can help the endocrine system and support hormone production.

  • Phytolacca Root- is also a good detoxifier of the lymphatic system & supports a healthy immune response.

  • Wild Indigo Root- supports the immune system and detoxifies the lymphatic system.

  • Prickly Ash Bark- is a traditional Native American remedy which boosts lymphatic function, stimulates digestion, and supports join health.

Here is the label in it's entirety with suggestions for use. AKA the instructions. I like to add mine to water and then drink some juice after. I'm not going to lie to you this tastes like licorice and dirt. But it's not an overtly horrible experience. The taste passes quickly especially if you have a flavored drink of sorts handy.

*Do not take while pregnant.
**Do not take drops more than 6 weeks consecutively without a 2 week break.

The Review

I expected when taking this to be prepared for some type of side effect. Doing any type of detox can cause headaches, muscle aches, irritability, moodiness, fatigue, flu-like symptoms, etc. So I braced myself for one or all of these among other things. I haven't had any type of detox side effects and I've been doing this for 2 weeks now. *But please note if you are a heavy smoker, drinker, or processed food eater you might get these side effects worse than users that don't smoke, drink, or eat a lot of processed foods. Please use your judgement if you are experiencing side effects. I promise it passes but I obviously don't want any of you guys becoming seriously ill. I did take a break for 2 days because I wasn't feeling so hot. I'm not sure if it was detox related but I'm right back at it! I had been feeling an odd feeling under my right rib cage like a bubble almost. I didn't have any pain or any noticeable swelling or I would have gone to the doctor. I think now it might have to do with my liver and pancreas needing to be detoxed. Last tip for you guys is to stay hydrated when doing this! I felt like I was becoming dehydrated a few days in. You will be urinating more frequently than normal! This is an excellent detox for beginners. Good luck! Tell me if you guys try this and how you like it!
